Verdant is part of the Temple Guardian series, a collection of paintings exploring the ancient beings said to watch over sacred places long after the people who built them are gone.

In this piece, the long-necked guardian rises among towering trees, its gaze fixed forward with quiet intensity. Suspended behind it is a narrow temple walkway, elevated between trunks like a forgotten passage once used by those who sought the sanctuary beyond.

The forest itself feels alive, thick with growth, color, and movement, while the dragon remains still, a patient sentinel woven into the landscape.

Textured paint brings depth to the trees, temple structure, and the guardian’s scales, allowing light to catch on raised surfaces and shifting details as the viewer moves around the canvas.
