Temple Guardian: Ashen
Temple Guardian: Ashen
Description
Ashen
Temple Guardian Series – Original Painting
Ashen is part of the Temple Guardian series, a collection of paintings exploring the ancient beings said to watch over sacred places long after the people who built them are gone.
In this piece, a vast purple guardian bends low over a volcanic ridge, its massive form looming above a harsh and barren landscape. The mountains appear scorched and wind-carved, their slopes stripped of the green life found in other temples of the world.
At the summit of the tallest peak stands a solitary figure—small against the immensity of the land and the quiet presence of the guardian itself.
Unlike the forest and sky guardians of the series, Ashen is tied to the wounded places of the earth. The creature does not dominate the land, but studies it, as though listening for something deep beneath the stone.
Textured paint across the volcanic terrain and mountain ridges creates a rough, mineral surface that shifts subtly in the light, reinforcing the sense that the land itself is ancient, fractured, and alive.
Within the mythology of the Temple Guardians, Ashen is the watcher of the burned lands—the keeper of places where the earth has broken open and begun again.
