Think on Your Feet: Improv for Everyday Life
Think on Your Feet: Improv for Everyday Life
Because most of life doesnβt give you rehearsal time.

You do not have to be funny.
You do not have to be outgoing.
You do not need theatre experience.
And nobody is going to shove you in front of a room and demand that you suddenly become hilarious.
This is improv for everyday life.
Using real improvisational theatre games and exercises, weβll practice listening, responding, adapting, making choices, recovering when things go sideways, and getting more comfortable when you donβt know exactly what comes next.
Because that happens rather a lot in actual life.
At work.
In conversations.
During presentations.
In interviews.
While meeting new people.
When somebody asks you a question you absolutely did not prepare for.
When the plan changes.
When you have to make a decision before you feel entirely ready.
Improv gives us a wonderfully ridiculous place to practice all of that.
What Weβll Do
Weβll start with simple theatre warmups and low-pressure group games designed to get us moving, laughing, and out of our own heads. Think Zip-Zap-Zop, One Word Story, association games, movement, and other exercises where there really isnβt enough time to overthink the answer.
Then weβll explore one of improvβs most famous principles:
Yes, and.
Not as some bullshit corporate slogan about agreeing with everything.
Instead, weβll practice actually listening to what another person gives us, accepting the reality of the moment, and adding something that allows the interaction to keep moving.
From there, weβll work on fast responses, spontaneous choices, collaboration, storytelling, and short improvised scenes.
And yes.
Eventually weβre playing Freeze.
Because Freeze is delightful.
Toward the end, weβll connect what happened in the room to the situations we encounter outside it.
What changes when you stop rehearsing yourself?
What makes you hesitate?
What helps you respond?
What happens when the thing you expected isnβt the thing you get?
And how can we practice being a little more confident, flexible, present, and willing to act before we have the perfect answer?
This Workshop Is For You Ifβ¦
You want to get better at thinking on your feet.
You sometimes freeze when you're put on the spot.
You want more confidence speaking or interacting with other people.
Youβre a leader, teacher, business owner, professional, creative, writer, or human being who occasionally encounters other human beings.
You want to practice listening and responding instead of mentally composing your next sentence.
Or you just think improv games for two hours sounds like fun.
All are acceptable reasons.
No Experience Needed
This workshop is designed for beginners.
You do not need previous acting or improv experience.
You do not need to perform for an audience or EVER want to do such a thing.Β
You do not need to prepare anything.
There is no final performance.
This is practice the whole time.
Weβll make mistakes.
Weβll probably say some profoundly stupid things.
And that is very much part of the point.

Class Size
Maximum 8 participants.
Keeping the group small gives everyone plenty of opportunity to participate without making the room feel like an audition.
Investment
$25 per person
One registration reserves one spot for one participant on the date selected.
Ages 15β17 are welcome, but this workshop is designed primarily for adults.
Because, letβs be real, grownups donβt get nearly enough opportunities to play, be ridiculous, try something without already knowing how to do it, and make mistakes in a room where absolutely nothing terrible happens as a result.
