Between Sea and Stone
Original Mixed Media Painting
In this piece, a solitary mermaid rises from the rocky edge of the shore, her long golden hair carried outward like strands of light on the wind. The landscape around her is quiet and spare—stone, sea, and distant structures fading into pale sky.
At the edge of the rocks, a red crab lifts its claws as though in greeting or challenge.
The encounter is small, almost accidental, yet it feels ancient. The mermaid appears neither surprised nor threatened; instead, the moment carries the stillness of a shoreline where two different worlds briefly meet.
Heavy texture across the stone and shoreline gives the painting a tactile quality, while raised lines in the mermaid’s hair create movement that changes as light shifts across the canvas.
The result is a quiet coastal myth—an imagined moment between sea-creature and shore-dweller, suspended somewhere between curiosity and recognition.
