Description

Airy is part of the Temple Guardian series, a body of work exploring the ancient beings said to watch over sacred places long after the people who built them are gone.

In this piece, a great serpent-dragon rises beside a solitary temple structure under a pale moonlit sky. The creature’s gaze is alert but measured—less a predator than a sentinel. Its long neck curves upward from the edge of the structure as though it has been there for centuries, part of the landscape itself.

The temple below suggests human presence: architecture, ritual, memory. Yet the dragon towers above it, reminding the viewer that the oldest guardians are not human at all.

Textural paint and layered color bring the dragon’s scales, beard, and teeth forward from the surface of the canvas, giving the creature a physical presence that shifts as the light changes across the painting.

Within the Temple Guardian series, Airy represents the watchful spirit of the upper winds—the silent keeper who observes from above, patient and enduring.
