A Way Into Clay: Two-Night Pottery Experience
There are many ways into working with clay.
This is one of the simplest.
A Way Into Clay is a two-night pottery experience designed for people who are curious — but not ready to commit to a full course, or simply not sure where to begin.
You do not need experience.
You do not need to be “good at art.”
You just need to be willing to sit down and try.
How It Works
This is a complete, start-to-finish pottery experience.
Night One — Build (3 Hours)
You’ll be guided through simple handbuilding techniques — coil, slab, and pinch — as you create a single project from raw clay.
We keep the process focused, approachable, and manageable so you can enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed.
At the end of the evening, you’ll leave with a piece you’re excited about and a better understanding of how clay works.
After the session, your work will dry slowly before its first kiln firing.
Night Two — Glaze (3 Hours)
Approximately one month later, you’ll return to glaze your finished piece.
You’ll explore color, surface, and finishing choices while learning the basics of glazing and ceramic finishing.
After glazing, your work will be fired one final time and prepared for pickup.
Pickup
Finished pieces are typically ready approximately three weeks after the glazing session.
Pickup details will be coordinated during your final class.

A Note Before You Sign Up
Clay has a mind of its own.
Pieces crack. Edges shift. Things sometimes turn out differently than expected.
That is part of the process, and part of what makes pottery meaningful.
You’ll be guided every step of the way, but the goal here is not perfection.
It’s experience.
It’s exploration.
It’s learning to work with the material instead of against it.
Make Yourself at Home
The studio includes a refrigerator, stove, and oven, and participants are welcome to bring snacks or drinks.
Tea and coffee will also be available during sessions.
If you’ve been thinking about trying pottery, this is your way in.
And if you’re looking for a schedule you don’t see listed, I’d love to hear your ideas.
