Unwind Studio Sessions at The Studio Above the Clouds

Every Friday and most Saturdays

$25 per maker.

Come up to the studio. Make something. Try something. Stay for twenty minutes or settle in for the whole three hours. 

Unwind Studio Sessions are open studio time with materials access, this is not a formal class.

There is no assigned project and no expectation that everyone make the same thing. I’ll be working in the studio alongside you and available for questions, demonstrations, help, and the occasional artistic emergency.

You might paint.

You might play with clay.

You might collage, sketch, experiment with texture, or make something that did not exist when you walked in.

That is pretty much the point. 

Two Daily Sessions

Afternoon Unwind

This session is especially family-friendly. 

The little kids are so, so welcome. Big kids are welcome too! Homeschoolers are welcome. Parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and other favorite grownups are welcome.

Adults without children are also completely and totally welcome.

Remember, this is not a children's class. It is a time when The Studio will be set up for young makers. It is a great time to experiment and leave with something one-of-a-kind that you or your kids made!

Evening Unwind

A relaxed open-making session for adults, teens, families, friends, couples, grown kids and their parents, or anybody else who wants somewhere to make something on a Friday evening.

No experience required.

No artistic credentials will be checked at the door.

Unwind. There will be tea available. There will be some chill music. There will be no pressure. 

What Your $25 Includes

Each maker has access to:

• up to three hours of studio time (come whenever you like in that 3-hr block)
• up to four small canvases (with magnet backing) or one larger 11X17 canvas
• watercolor, acrylic, and shared mixed-media supplies
• studio tools and materials
• clay for one small handbuilt piece
• firing for your included clay piece
• informal guidance, demonstrations, and help as you work (hey, I'm here working too!)

Clay pieces will remain at the studio for drying and firing and will be available for pickup later; this is usually about 2 weeks later but also depends on The Studio firing schedule. 

How Pricing Works

$25 per person making art.

An adult accompanying and helping a child does NOT need to register or pay unless they also want their own materials and project.

So:

One child making + one grownup helping but not making = one $25 registration.

One child making + one grownup making = two $25 registrations.

One grownup making = one $25 registration.

How Long Can I Stay?

Your registration gives you access to the entire three-hour block, but this is not a three-hour class you need to sit through.

Come for an hour.

Stay for all three.

That choice is yours. 

Ages

All ages are welcome, particularly during the Afternoon session.

Young children must remain with a responsible adult.

The Evening session is open to adults, teens, families, and children attending with their grownup. 

What This Is — and What It Isn't

Unwind is a place to practice, experiment, make choices, ask questions, and enjoy making something without worrying about performing.

It is NOT a structured pottery course or guided painting class.

If you want step-by-step instruction and a specific finished project, please take one of our regular classes.

If you want a table, some materials, a little guidance when you need it, and permission to mess around creatively for a while?
